Motherhood,

bag-gypsofilia-seeds-1716747_1920

Is,

To fall in love with a stranger;

After we realize they are growing in us

It is to let go of self;

Allowing our little ones to take over our bodies

It is being selfless;

Accepting pain that comes with carrying and delivering our babies

It is surrender;

Of a life of comfort to being present whenever and wherever for our babies

It is becoming strong;

For we know they need us to

It is learning to get up when we fall;

Knowing it is what we would want them to do

Motherhood;

Is becoming

A friend

A teacher

A soft cushion

A β€œlawyer”

A defender

A cause of smiles

A soft tissue for tears

A waiting hug

A councilor

And…

It is giving

Forgiving

Hopeful

Understanding

Present

Enduring

Encouraging

Motherhood is love that makes

One fluffy cloud.

  1. I wonder if you, as I did, can recognize some of the energy of your children from the time in the womb? My daughter used to dance up a storm when I played music, and now she is a musician!

    1. Awwww. Thank-you for enjoying this piece. It was written from a mother’s heart and I hope your sister in-law enjoys it as much as I enjoyed writing it. πŸ’ž

  2. What a beautiful piece. My baby turned one this week, and my husband thought I was exceptionally excited. I agree, and it was for a good thing; men can never understand that feeling. I am glad about all that I have had to give up, and all that I will joyfully embrace, even as a new phase opens up to me.

    1. Thank-you my dearest πŸ’. Happy belated birthday to your munchkin. Being a mother is beautiful and it’s absolutely okay to be excited for milestones. HugsπŸ’
