40 And when he came to the place, he said to them, “Pray that you may not enter into temptation.”41 And he withdrew from them about a stone’s throw, and knelt down and prayed,42 saying, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.”43 And there appeared to him an angel from heaven, strengthening him.44 And being in agony he prayed more earnestly; and his sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
Whenever I read this passage of scripture, I think of the obedience Christ had toward His Father. It humbles me when I remember the times of my own disobedience in my Christian walk. God asks so little of us, nothing compared to what He asked of His own Son. Thank you for sharing, especially in light of the Sunday to come that is set aside to remember Christ’s work on the cross.
Luke 22 breaks me as a Christian; especially verse 44. The extent of pain and stress He was going through in that moment that He would sweat blood!. All of that for me a very unthankful sinner that has to be reminded over and over of Christ’s love. Easter season sums up His work of love and Grace for us. And yes He says it is finished!!!. We need to grasp onto that truth because He took it all upon Himself!. Have a blessed weekend Deborah💞
Sweating blood is a condition called Hematidrosis that is caused by extreme stress. This shows the depth of what our Savior was facing as well as the humanity of our Savior who was going to pay for our sins. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hematidrosis
You are absolutely right my dearest sis. I hope and pray that as a world; His people, we will not just let this season get lost but be a time to meditate upon what it’s truly about.Much, much love my dearest sister💞
