Simple Pizza Dough

Ingredients:

1 cup warm water 100°F

2 1/4 teaspoons (1 normal sized packet) active dry yeast

1/2 teaspoon cane sugar

1 teaspoon sea salt

3 tablespoons Extra virgin olive oil

3 cups all purpose flour

Directions:

  1. Measure water in a measuring cup, then add the yeast and sugar. Stir gently, then let sit until it’s active and foamy for approximately 5 minutes
  2. Add salt, oil, and 2 cups of flour to the mixing bowl. Attach the dough hook to the stand mixer. Stir the flour mixture gently while adding the proofed yeast mixture. Run the mixer on low speed until the mixture is combined and wet and then add the third cup of flour. The mixture should come together into a ball that is just a bit sticky.
  3. Place dough in oiled bowl in a warm area of the kitchen and let rise for 1-2 hours.

P.S. you can use this to make a decent fried doughnut.

  1. Yum! My recipe is nearly identical except I only use 1 tsp of yeast. It rises just fine and doesn’t have that strong “yeasty” flavor. We make pizza ~2x/mon, so I buy it in jars. I know it’s good yeast, so I throw it right into the flour and then add the wet ingredients – works fine!

      1. Our family loves a pesto sauce (blended basil, Olive oil, pine nuts and a pinch of salt. You could add parmesan cheese if you do dairy). It’s absolutely delicious.
