Sort and rinse lentils. Pour into a good heavy pot, add water or broth to cover. Bring to a boil for about 45 min on medium/high heat.
Add 2 tbsp of coconut oil, 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp turmeric, 1/4 tsp smoked paprika and black pepper to taste.
Reduce heat to low and simmer for about 25-30 min or until completely tender and smooth.
Serve over steamed rice.
