This is our mom’s recipe with a few changes after we visited a local Turkish restaurant.
What ever mom does to her pizza, it is still better than this one. 🙂
Ingredients
- 3-4 cups flour (Half white flour and half whole wheat)
- 1 pkg rapid rise yeast
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp dry Italian herbs
- 1 cup very warm water
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1tbsp coconut oil
- 1 tbsp plain yogurt
- 1 egg
Directions
in a large bowl, combine 2 cups flour , undissolved yeast, salt, sugar, herbs. Add lightly beaten egg and the yogurt. Add both oils to very warm water and stir into flour mixture. stir in additional flour to make a soft dough. kneed dough while adding flour as needed until smooth and elastic, about 5-6 min. In a floured bowl, cover with a clean tea towel and let rest for 15 min or more.
Smooth out on oiled pan and cover with favorite sauce, bake at 400 deg for 10 min. Add toppings of choice and continue to bake for an additional 10-12 min. Once it is baked, brush the crust with a coconut oil and garlic salt mixture.
Enjoy.
This sounds interesting with two different kinds of flour and yogurt.
