Our Kitchen

Eat Papaya

https://i0.wp.com/farm4.staticflickr.com/3438/3224330541_8ed2cfe18d_z.jpg Our family absolutely loves Papaya. My wife grew up on the stuff as it is a native fruit of Uganda, East Africa. I actually had never had it in its true form (ie. Fruit) but I am making up for lost time with it now. And naturally our kids love the stuff since we are making sure they grow up on it also. We greatly look forward to traveling to Uganda to see family and be able to show the kids where their favorite foods come from. Besides a great flavor there is a lot more to Papaya than most people know. Click on the link below to read some of the great health benefits of the fruit.

Papaya is very easy to cut and prepare. (besides the little black seeds falling out and rolling every where). When you are choosing papaya at the store, there are a few things to watch out for. Firmness, a soft papaya is a sign of rough handling on its way to the store. Yellow in color, papayas turn from green to yellow naturally as a sign of ripeness. Unless if you are cooking with it then you should buy it green.
